Sweet & Sour's plot is not particularly novel, but the rich narrative provides the audience with a wholly new experience. The film is not a perfect movie but one that moviegoers should explore for a unique sense of romance. Serve the People also has a lot of stylistic sequences that portray the forbidden but passionate love between the leads. It is characterized by a sparse use of dialogue, as the filmmakers aim to convey the narrative through the language of cinema and body language, catering to discerning audiences.
